Biography
Dann Gillen is an advanced musician and fourth generation drummer based out of Los Angeles, California. He has recorded, toured and performed with many top artists. He has been heard on recordings that include albums, soundtracks, commercials, TV shows, movie trailers, and film scores. He has been fortunate to have played throughout the United States and around the world in Holland, Germany, Switzerland, Spain, Belgium, Japan, Aruba, Mexico and Canada.
Drumming is in Dann's blood. From before the time he could walk, he had sticks in his hands. He started his professional career in 1982 at the age of 15. He enjoyed marching in the California State champion drumline at El Camino Real High School in Woodland Hills, CA, from 1983-1985.
From 1986 to 1987, Dann studied at the infamous Dick Grove School of Music in Studio City and Van Nuys, California. He enjoyed the opportunity to study under the leadership of legendary artists and instructors Peter Donald, David Garibaldi, Luis Conte, Brian Kilgore and Dan Greco, to name a few.
His passion and life-study is to play to the soul of the song with great musicianship, while maintaining solid meter, and always with a great pocket.
